 Join our Community

I love St. Aloysius because it is a prayerful and welcoming parish. They are truly dedicated to serving the downtown Detroit community in any way possible by offering daily and weekend masses and providing multiple services to feed and clothe those in need.

I love St. Al’s because of its diversity. It is a true reflection of our society. I also love the neighborhood services in that the parish does a lot with very little in providing necessities like food, health care and personal hygiene items that most of us take for granted. Those are just a few of the many things that I love about our parish. My wife and I truly believe that God brought us here.
TONY SMITH
I was raised Catholic but left the Church for a period of several years. Fr. Mario and the parishioners of St. Aloysius welcomed me back to the Church with open arms, and I am blessed to call it my spiritual home. I can see St. Al’s from my window at home and I hear the church bells every day - how can it get any better?

A note from the pastor

You’ve clicked on the digital home of St. Aloysius, “Everybody’s Church in Downtown Detroit.” Welcome!

Whether you are new to the Downtown area or have lived here for as long as you can remember, I want to let you know that we would love for you to become part of our community.

Not only do we take our Catholic faith seriously, we also believe in being the hands and feet of Christ to our brothers and sisters on Washington Boulevard and beyond.

I invite you to check out our parish here online and in person. You won’t find another church like ours anywhere in the country—and I’m not just talking about the building!

In Christ,
Fr. mario amore
